Noctu is an app for planning nights out with a small circle of people. This page explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can delete it. Questions go to hello@noctuapp.in.
What we collect
- Sign-in details. Your phone number or email address, or your Google account's email if you continue with Google.
- Your profile. First name, date of birth, gender, city area, the music and kinds of night you like, and anything else you choose to add.
- Photos you choose to share. A selfie, if you consent to one, which we use to draw your illustrated avatar. Photos and hellos you post in a circle.
- What happens in your circles. Chat messages, plans, votes, RSVPs, check-ins, feedback, appreciation and reports.
- Safety details you add. Your way-home plan and a trusted contact, if you add them.
- Device and technical data. A push-notification token, your notification settings, the IP address of requests (used for rate limits and abuse prevention), and crash reports.
Why we use it
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To match you with a circle and run the plans you join.
- To show the people in your circle what you have chosen to share with them.
- To send you sign-in codes and the notifications you have turned on.
- To keep nights safe: handling reports, blocking, and preventing abuse.
- To fix crashes and errors.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who can see what
The people in your circle see your first name, avatar, what you post in the circle, and your plan activity. Other members never see your phone number, email address, date of birth or gender. Feedback about other people is private.
Services we use
These companies process data for us, only to provide the service:
- Amazon Web Services (Mumbai region): hosting, database, file storage, and sending sign-in emails.
- Message Central: sending SMS sign-in codes to your phone number.
- Google Firebase: Google sign-in, push notifications and crash reports.
- Google Gemini: if you consent to a selfie, it is sent to Google's Gemini API to draw your avatar.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. Sign-in codes expire after 5 minutes. When you delete your account we erase your profile details, selfie, avatar, taste profile, trusted contact and devices, and sign you out everywhere. What you posted in a circle and records of past nights stay, no longer linked to your name, so other members' chats and history stay intact.
Your choices
- Edit your profile and notification settings in the app at any time.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, at hello@noctuapp.in.
- Delete your account whenever you like, in the app under Profile → settings → Delete profile & data, or by email.
Age
Noctu is for people aged 18 and over.
Security
All traffic to Noctu is encrypted in transit. Access to our servers is restricted and logged.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
